Wheelchair Tennis Atlanta

ALTA
ATLANTA LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION
WHEELCHAIR LEAGUE
ALTA is a non-profit tennis organization developed for the promotion of tennis playing opportunities around the Atlanta and surrounding areas. They offer 3 leagues for men and women ages 16 and up in the Atlanta area. We play out of Hudlow Tennis Center at Best Friend Park in Norcross on Tuesday evenings.
Spring Season - Doubles
The Spring Season format is a wheelchair doubles league. The format is decided by the League Coordinator and the volunteer team captains at the captain's meeting held prior to the start of the season. The format may vary depending on player turnout, court availability as well as many other factors.
Teams are chosen to create a diverse playing opportunity and create fair and competitive matches between the teams.
Summer Season - Run/Roll
The Summer Season format is called a Run/Roll league also known as an Up/Down league. Wheelchair players are paired with walking players to create a unique opportunity to play.
Captains volunteer and pick these teams as well based on the rules made in the captain's meetings. Chair players get 2 bounces but running players only get 1 bounce. We do limit the level of some of the running players, so it gives a good balance between the run and roll players.
Fall Season - Doubles
The fall season is essentially a repeat of the spring season with differing teams again selected by volunteer captains.
In both seasons players are loosely stack ranked. "Lines" of players are created (usually Line 1, 2, 3, and 4) with Line 1 being the very established players with excellent ball control and Line 4 being a recreational player and/or new to the game.
