Wheelchair Tennis Atlanta

What Are The Rules?
The largest difference between a wheelchair player and a running player is the wheelchair player gets 2 bounces of the ball. Official rules can be found on the USTA and ALTA websites. You will only find minor details such as the chair is an extension of the player, so if the ball hits your chair, it is just like it hitting a person.
Who Can Play?
Our answer to this question is anyone that desires to play. We have male and female players. We have paraplegics and quadriplegics playing. We have amputees playing. We have many other types of injury that all play. If you are motivated and want to play, there is a way to play. Once you get into competition, there may be some more restrictions and divisions, but there is a place for you to play.
Where Do You Play?
You can play on any court that you are able to access. Some courts are rubberized which can make your play a little slower. Clay courts aren't the best idea for a chair player. The attached pages will give you an idea of where to get started to meet other players, try a clinic, join a league, and compete in some tournaments.

Why Wheelchair Tennis?
There are many opportunities to play wheelchair tennis in Atlanta as well as around the country. In our opinion, thing that makes this sport such a great activity is that you don't need a team of players to play, and you don't need a lot of equipment. If you have a tennis racket and a sports chair, you can play on any tennis court and against any person whether they are in a chair or not.
